Terms of Coverage

  1. If a covered system fails during the contract terms, the contract holder must contact the toll-free customer service department at 1-888-GSI-LEAK (1-888-474-5325). Calls are received 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Should the contract holder contract directly with others or do the work themselves, GSI will not be responsible for reimbursement of that cost. Upon receiving a request for service, GSI will dispatch a certified roof technician within 8 hours during normal business hours, and 48 hours on weekends and holidays. GSI will then call the contract holder directly to schedule a mutually convenient appointment during normal business hours. GSI will determine what repairs constitute an emergency and will make reasonable efforts to expedite emergency service. If the contract holder should request GSI to perform non-emergency service outside normal business hours, the contract holder will be responsible for payment of additional fees, including overtime.
  2. Should GSI grant the contract holder authorization to contact an independent contractor directly to perform a covered service, GSI will provide reimbursement based on the following conditions: a) Contract holder selects a contractor that is qualified and insured. b) Contractor provides fair and reasonable rates on parts and labor. c) Contract holder must contact GSI to confirm that service work is covered under the warranty contract by calling 1-888-GSI-LEAK (1-888-474-5325). Once contractor arrives at the property, and prior to contractor performing any repairs for which contract holder may seek reimbursement.
  3. Service work is guaranteed (without an additional service fee) for 90 days on workmanship and 90 days on parts, the 90/90 day guarantee only applies to malfunctions that are reported to GSI during the term of this contract. Roof protection continues thru term of contract.
  4. This contract covers single family dwellings under 5,000 square feet, unless amended by GSI prior to the close of sale (i.e. Homes in excess of 5,000 square fee, guest houses, or the like, and other detached structures.) Coverage begins when appropriate fees are paid. Covered dwellings cannot be used for commercial purposes (i.e. Daycare centers, nursing care homes, fraternity/sorority houses, etc.).
  5. This contract covers only those roof parts, systems and/or components specifically mentioned as covered and excludes all others. Covered systems and/or components must be located within the main foundation of the home or garage. All coverage is subject to limitations and conditions mentioned in this contract.
  6. Covered systems must be in good working order at the time of cover- age. Unknown pre-existing conditions will be covered at the time cover- age began, if the defect or malfunction was not known to buyer, seller, agent or home inspector by a visual inspection. Known defects found at the time of a home inspection report are excluded from coverage until proof of corrections made by licensed contractor.
  7. If covered property should require service during seller’s coverage and property has not closed and payment has not been made, service will be dispatched once premium is paid to GSI (i.e. credit card, etc.).
  8. In the event property does not close sale, is withdrawn from market, or the listing is expired or terminated and premium was paid, provider of funds shall be entitled to pro-rated refund of contract fee for the un-expired term, less an administration fee and service costs incurred by GSI.
This one year roof system warranty is issued by Global Shield Inc. (GSI), an Oregon and Washington licensed roof protection company. The Real Estate Agent, Broker, Title Company offering this program does so as a service to protect client investment. They receive no commission from Global Shield roof warranty.
